Gregory Williams hosts demonstration and workshops at
Ikebana International’s 26th Annual Flower Show

TORONTO, July 31, 2007 Ikebana International is pleased to announce their annual flower show on October 20 and 21, 2007 from 12 noon to 5 p.m., at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) which is located at 6 Garamond Court  , in the Wynford and Don Valley Pkwy. area of Toronto. Parking is free.

LANDSCAPES  is this years’ theme, showcased in the feature exhibition of about 40 beautiful arrangements, workshops and demonstrations. Entrance tickets are $12 and are good for both days. Refreshments at the Japanese Tea Room, ikebana books and vases will also be available for sale.

Ikebana International is a non-profit world wide Japanese flower arranging organization whose motto is “Friendship through Flowers”. This event will showcase several different schools of Japanese flower arranging and promises a high caliber of works with many Toronto-based teachers displaying their work.

TWO WORKSHOPS are being offered for both novice and experienced ikebana enthusiasts alike and are not included with general admission. Fees for members are $50 a session or $85 for both: Non-members are $60 or $100. The duration of both workshops is 1 ½ hours and includes instruction, flowers and container. Spaces are limited; so register early.

Gregory Williams, RIJI of the Sogetsu School and life member of Ikebana International will lead the workshops as follows:

Saturday, October 20:   morning session- 11 a.m.   afternoon session- 1:45

A bento box lunch will be available for an additional cost of $10. Request along with registration

The DEMONSTRATION on Sunday, October 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. will start with a performance of Japanese Dance. Gregory will then provide an inspiring, creative demonstration of the art of ikebana. During the last 30 minutes, he will be accompanied by a koto (Japanese harp) player.
